Roundup of a tense final day of 2022-23 Premier League season as the final standings were finalised.
Harvey Barnes’ 34th minute free-flowing strike from a one-two move with Kelechi Iheanacho had Leicester on the cusp of survival at half-time, before Wout Faes’ header completed a 2-1 home win over West Ham despite Pablo Fornals’ consolatory goal for the Hammers.
Abdoulaye Doucoure’s 57th minute rebound smash-and-grab strike however saw Everton snatch a 1-0 win over Bournemouth at Goodison Park, which guaranteed survival for Sean Dyche’s Toffees and relegated 2015-16 champions, Leicester.
Leeds United were also relegated after losing 4-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road, as Harry Kane produced a brace and assisted in Pedro Porro’s 47th minute goal in what could be his very last appearance for the North London club.
Tottenham meanwhile were denied European qualification for the first time since 2009-10 season, after Jacob Ramsey provided first-half assists for Douglas Luiz and Ollie Watkins as Aston Villa beat Brighton 2-1 to secure UEFA Europa Conference League qualification and seventh place.
Brentford achieved their highest top-flight finish since 1937-38 season with ninth place as Ethan Pinnock‘s late half-volley goal secured a league double over Manchester City.

Elsewhere, Kamaldeen Sulemana’s brace helped already-relegated Southampton to a dramatic 4-4 draw at home to Liverpool, in which Diogo Jota scored twice for the Reds in an eight-goal thriller at St Mary’s Stadium.
Granit Xhaka’s brace plus goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Jakub Kiwior saw second-placed Arsenal defeat Wolves in a dominant five-goal victory at the Emirates Stadium.
Comeback goals from Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes saw Manchester United wrap up third place with victory against Fulham 2-1 at Old Trafford, having fallen behind to Kenny Tete’s 19th minute header.
Kieran Trippier’s own-goal ensured Chelsea finished 12th following a 1-1 draw at home to fourth-placed Newcastle, after Anthony Gordon had put the Magpies ahead in the ninth minute.
Finally, Will Hughes cancelled out Taiwo Awoniyi’s goal as Crystal Palace fought back to draw 1-1 at home to Nottingham Forest.
