Leeds United have appointed Daniel Farke as manager on a four-year contract until June 2027.

Farke’s appointment comes as Leeds prepare for life back in the Championship, having suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season in a campaign which saw Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce all serve as manager.

Farke has signed a four-year contract until June 2027 and moves to Elland Road with a proven record in the second-tier, having twice guided Norwich to promotion either side of relegation at conclusion of 2019-20 season.

Speaking about his decision to join Leeds and return to English football, Farke commented: “I’d like to thank everyone for the really warm welcome, I’m really grateful at this moment, to work for this amazing club.

“I feel humble at this time, I know the responsibility to fulfil all the expectations and I want to repay the trust shown.”

On his immediate task amidst strong tensions between fans and the club in recent months, Farke added: “The most important thing is to create a togetherness and unity within this club again and from today onwards, I will work on it with my staff and players, and I trust our supporters will be there when we need them.”

Leeds’ Vice-Chairman, Paraag Marathe added that the club are “excited” to welcome Farke as manager as the ex Norwich boss becomes the club’s second German manager after Uwe Rösler, who held the job for three months between July – October 2015.

Explaining the decision behind Farke’s appointment as manager, Marathe said: “His record in the Championship is clear, and I am impressed by his leadership and plan to guide us back to the Premier League.

Eddie Riemer, Christopher John and Chris Domogalla will join Farke as part of his coaching team, with Riemer serving as Farke’s assistant manager.

Farke’s first match as Leeds manager will take place against Cardiff City at Elland Road on Sunday 6 August at 2:30pm BST, live on Sky Sports.
