Bromley defender and captain, Byron Webster has announced that he will play his last match for the club on Saturday 2 May 2026.

Webster’s announcement comes as his contract is set to expire on 30 June but it is unclear if he will stay with the club in a coaching role, having completed his UEFA A License in 2022 and spent much of the season working closely with manager, Andy Woodman.

The 39-year-old will end his six-season playing spell for Bromley having scored 13 goals in 197 appearances, in which he was part of their 2021-22 FA Trophy winning squad, and his last match will be against Walsall at CopperJax Stadium as the League Two season concludes on 2 May.

Webster also scored the winning penalty as Bromley claimed promotion to EFL via 2024 National League Play-Off Final in a shootout win over Solihull Moors, following a dramatic 2-2 draw at Wembley Stadium, London.

In an Instagram post confirming his decision to end his playing days for Bromley, Webster reflected on the club’s successful promotion to League One for next season, and paid tribute to chairman, Robin Stanton-Gleaves for having the vision to achieve EFL football and promotion to the third tier.

“Another season is coming to a close, and what a season it’s been! Bromley Football Club in League One! Who would’ve thought? Saturday 2nd May 2026 will be my last game for Bromley FC as a player.

“When I joined in 2020 and listened to the Chairman about his plans and visions, I believed and was fully committed to achieve this. To see that vision come to fruition is unbelievable.

“There are so many people to thank, but I will keep it short- Thank you Bromley Football Club. The big bosses- Mr Chairman & Mr CEO. Managers, Coaches, Back Room Staff, Office Staff, Teammates & Supporters.”

Bromley issued a statement on their social media channel thanking Webster for his leadership and graft to help the club achieve the progress that they’ve achieved in the last six seasons.

“Webby, without you at the helm of our squad, we wouldn’t be where we are today. An inspiration and example to each and every one of your teammates, past and present. That penalty at Wembley will go down in Bromley FC history forever. Captain. Leader. Legend.”
