2025-26 Premier League: Week 34 – Man Utd vs Brentford

Manchester United host Brentford in a huge Premier League showdown in the race for European qualification.

Victory or a draw will see Man Utd stay third in the table, but a defeat would see them slip below Liverpool on goal difference.

Brentford can climb to sixth with a win.

Team News

Bryan Mbeumo is set to be available for Man Utd after he recovered from a knock suffered during their 1-0 victory at Chelsea.

Harry Maguire is available following completion of his two-match ban, whilst Leny Yoro is also expected to be in contention after he missed the trip to Chelsea with a knock.

Lisandro Martinez (suspension), Patrick Dorgu (hamstring) and Matthijs De Ligt (back) are still ruled out.

Brentford have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 0-0 draw at home to Fulham.

Kaye Furo (groin), Vitaly Janelt (metatarsal), Jordan Henderson (knock), Rico Henry (hamstring), Fabio Carvalho, Josh Dasilva and Antoni Milambo (all ACL) remain sidelined

When is Kick-Off?

Man Utd host Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday 26 April at 20:00pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Man Utd have claimed 10 points in their last six meetings against Brentford (W3, D1, L2).
  • Brentford have lost all four previous league visits to Man Utd (L4).
  • Man Utd have never lost three consecutive league meetings against Brentford, but lost three games in all competitions against the Bees between October 1936 – February 1938.
  • Brentford have scored first in each of their last two visits to Man Utd but eventually lost both meetings by 2-1 results.
  • No Man Utd player has produced more goal involvements this season in all competitions than Bruno Fernandes – with the Portuguese midfielder having delivered 8 goals and 19 assists in 32 appearances.
  • Brentford have drawn each of their last five league matches (D5), in which three of the five draws finished 0-0 whilst the other two games ended in a 2-2 draw at home against Wolves and Everton respectively.

Prediction

With a top-five finish nearly assured, Man Utd have a great chance to edge closer towards Champions League qualification after a clinical smash-and-grab win in a lacklustre performance at Chelsea, but their consistency has dipped with no consecutive wins since early March.

Brentford in that time are unbeaten in six games but have drawn each of their last five which shows their capability to grind out draws – and particularly with clean sheets, although they will of been disappointed at how wasteful their end product was against Fulham in a competitive display.

Both teams therefore have huge work to do in terms of performance and end product respectively so the first goal could be key, but I honestly do think that Brentford will snatch a point at minimum this time if Utd aren’t firing on their top cylinders.

Prediction: Man Utd 1-1 Brentford

Result: Man Utd 2-1 Brentford
