England’s National Football Museum has announced that the entire of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 title-winning team will be inducted into the hall of fame.

England came from behind to draw against Spain in the final as Alessia Russo’s header cancelled out Mariona Caldentey’s headed opener, before Hannah Hampton saved three of the world champions’ penalties before Chloe Kelly secured the title in a 3-1 penalty shootout victory.

The victory meant that the Lionesses not only defended their title from 2022 but also became the first England team to lift a major title on foreign soil in Basel, Switzerland, and marked the first time that any England senior team retained a title in any major competition.

England however had become the first reigning champions to lose their opening game of the following tournament as they lost to France in their Group D opener, before they needed extra time in all three knockout ties – of which two of those ties went to penalty shootouts.

Manager, Sarina Wiegman meanwhile retained her 100% title-winning record as a manager in the competition, having first won the UEFA Women’s Euro in 2017 with her home country, Netherlands before she repeated the feat with England in 22 and 25 respectively.

Their historic achievements have ultimately led the National Football Museum to induct every squad member plus Wiegman into the Hall of Fame

National Football Museum CEO, Tim Desmond described the decision to conduct every member of the team and Wiegman into the Hall of Fame as a reflection of their progression of women’s football on and off the pitch.

“This squad made history — again. To win back-to-back European Championships is a phenomenal achievement, and it’s only right that we honour the team and Sarina Wiegman in our Hall of Fame.

“Their legacy goes beyond silverware; they’ve changed perceptions, brought the nation together, inspired future generations, and set new standards for English football.”
