JJ McKiernan’s strike rescued Bromley a 1-1 draw at Barnet in their final pre-season friendly ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Kabongo Tshimanga fired Barnet into a 11th-minute lead from the penalty spot after Nathan Patten had fouled Danny Collinge with a high-footed challenge.
Bromley however snatched a 1-1 draw through McKiernan’s long-range strike on his debut for the Ravens.
With manager, Andy Woodman having split his squad for their last two friendlies of pre-season in a move which he has now vowed he “would never” do again after a 7-0 loss to QPR, fans could of feared a repeat after Idris Kanu almost put Barnet in front in the fifth minute only for his shot to go wide.
Barnet proceeded to win a penalty five minutes later after a high foot from Patten caught Collinge on the head, which led Tshimanga to subsequently dispatch his penalty into the bottom right corner to put the Bees in front.
Tshimanga then met a 21st-minute looping cross from Oisin Gallagher but headed straight into Shamal George’s hands.
Bromley though soon punished that wasted chance three minutes later as McKiernan on debut unleashed a powerful long-range shot past Matthew Cox to restore parity.
Barnet however wasted chances to create a two-goal lead at half time as Kanu headed over the bar in the 32nd minute, before he five minutes later laid the ball off for Nnamdi Ofoborh but the midfielder struck his shot over the bar.
As half time approached, Bromley almost snatched the lead in the last notable chance of the first half in the 39th minute, as Will Hondermarck unleashed a long-range shot which forced Cox to tip behind the bar with his fingertips.
Barnet however rediscovered their initial momentum early in the second half as Tom Knowles and Gallagher fired wide, then Ofoborh saw a 71st-minute shot saved.
The second half eventually hit a more lively pace in the closing ten minutes as Knowles’ curled shot was saved in the 82nd minute, before Bright Siaw put a shot wide then teed up Knowles who nodded wide.
Bromley however had late chances of their own as Nicke Kabamba saw a 84th-minute shot saved by Cox, whilst their Good Friday hero of last season – George Evans saw a 90th-minute shot saved by Cox.
Will Wright and Knowles saw injury-time chances denied by George with no side able to find a late winner.
Both teams will now shift focus to their season-opening matches in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday 8 August, as Barnet visit Cambridge United at 1pm BST whilst Bromley host Reading at the CopperJax Stadium at 3pm.
