Crystal Palace have signed Norwegian striker, Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves in a club-record £48 million transfer.
With relegation to the Championship looking a formality for Wolves, the Old Gold opted to cash in now on Strand Larsen rather than risk losing his for a cheaper fee in the summer so accepted a £43m initial fee plus £5m in add-ons offer totalling £48m from Palace.
Strand Larsen consequently has left Wolves after he delivered six goals across 27 appearances in all competitions this season, having previously seen interest from Newcastle fended off by the Midlands club last summer.
The 25-year-old striker has signed a four-and-a-half year deal at Selhurst Park until June 2030 and will wear the number 22 shirt, and has said that he can’t wait to get life as a Palace player underway.
“I’m really excited to come to Crystal Palace. It’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time now.
“I’m here to bring energy and goals, and to try to do my best for the club.”
Chairman, Steve Parish added: “We’re delighted that Jørgen has chosen to continue his impressive journey with us and look forward to seeing him in action at Selhurst Park.
“I’m sure he will prove himself a valuable asset for years to come.”
Strand Larsen began his career with Kvik Halden FK at youth level before he moved to Sarpsborg 08 where he broke through into their senior team with 10 goals in 59 appearances, amidst a loan spell at AC Milan during his time in Sarpsborg’s academy.
He then moved to Groningen where he delivered 27 goals in 71 appearances between 2020 – 22 before Celta Vigo signed him in August 2022, which saw him go on to net 18 goals in 74 appearances for the La Liga club prior to his successful loan at Wolves last season with 14 goals in 38 appearances.
On the international stage, Strand Larsen has scored four goals in 24 appearances for Norway – who have qualified for this summer’s 2026 FIFA World Cup – since his senior debut for the national team in November 2020.
