Stockport County meet Leicester City in this weekend’s stand-out Sky Bet League One fixture at Edgeley Park.
Victory could put third-placed Stockport top if results elsewhere go in their favour, whilst Leicester can climb into the top half of the table with a win if results elsewhere swing in their favour.
Teams
Stockport have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 4-0 win at Wigan last weekend.
Leicester could welcome Conor Chaplin and Caleb Okoli back into contention after they missed their 4-0 loss to Oxford United with knocks.
Jakub Stolarczyk, Ben Nelson (both ACL)
When is Kick-Off?
Stockport host Leicester at Edgeley Park on Saturday 12 September at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Stockport have won just one of their last 11 league meetings against Leicester (W1, D5, L5).
- Leicester have lost one of their last six league visits to Stockport (W3, D2, L1).
- Stockport have kept a single clean sheet in their opening five league matches this season (W3, L2)
- Three of Leicester’s four league goals in their first five league matches this season have been scored before half time.
Prediction
Although results haven’t exactly been consistent, Stockport have done well to find themselves third after five matches but they now need to start putting together points-scoring consistency if they’re to challenge for promotion because they do have the quality as saw in their win at Wigan.
Leicester meanwhile aren’t exactly consistent themselves but they at least have shown some grit away from home with two draws, yet they now need to knuckle down and produce a strong response after some awful defending and wasteful final touches in an otherwise tight clash against Oxford Utd.
Edgeley Park though has been a solid hunting ground for Russell Martin’s in their recent league visits but on current form, I would expect the Hatters to win although this won’t be an easy game for either team.
Prediction: Stockport County 2-1 Leicester
