2026-27 Premier League: Week Four – Bournemouth vs Brentford

Bournemouth continue their search for a first Premier League win of the season against Brentford.

Victory would lift Bournemouth into the top ten, whilst Brentford can go as high as third if Hull draw away at fourth-placed Chelsea.

Team News

Bournemouth have no fresh injury concerns after their 4-0 Carabao Cup victory over Lincoln City in midweek.

Julian Araujo (thigh), Eli Junior Kroupi (foot), Veljko Milosavljevic (knee) and Amine Adli (calf) are ruled out.

Brentford manager, Keith Andrews could be without defender – Nathan Collins after he suffered a calf strain during the Bees’ 1-1 draw against Sunderland last weekend.

Mathias Jensen (strain), Josh Dasilva (hamstring), Sepp van den Berg (groin) and Antoni Milambo (ACL) remain sidelined.

When is Kick-Off?

Bournemouth meet Brentford at Vitality Stadium on Saturday 12 September at 3pm BST, untelevised live in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bournemouth are yet to record a Premier League victory against Brentford (D3, L5).
  • Brentford are unbeaten in four previous Premier League visits to Bournemouth (W2, D2).
  • Both of Brentford’s two Premier League wins at Bournemouth have been by 2-1 results, whilst their two draws both ended in a 0-0 result.
  • Marco Rose’s Cherries are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league this season (D2, L1).
  • Two of Brentford’s five league goals this season have been scored by Vitaly Janelt.

Prediction

Having thrown away a 2-0 lead at Newcastle last weekend in which they clinically punished the Magpies’ sloppy first-half defence, Bournemouth produced the ideal reaction with a comfortable midweek demolition of Lincoln City so they now need to use that confidence to push for a first league win of the season.

Brentford meanwhile seemed to have a hangover from the second half of their 1-1 draw at Leeds a fortnight ago in the first half against Sunderland, in which their defending kept them in the game before they were much sharper in the second half aside from a careless penalty conceded when in front.

Both teams therefore will be looking to improve on their last league outings but I do think that Bournemouth will have enough to find a first score draw against the Bees in the Premier League.

Prediction: Bournemouth 1-1 Brentford
