Max Verstappen dominated the 2024 Miami Sprint Race to extend his title lead.
Verstappen led from the start and survived a safety car restart on Lap 4 after a race-ending collision between Lance Stroll and Lando Norris at the start, as the Dutchman proceeded to take his second sprint win of the season.
The 26 year-old ultimately cruised to victory ahead of Charles Leclerc, Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz, Oscar Piastri and Nico Hulkenberg.
Yuki Tsunoda fought off Lewis Hamilton to snatch the final point in eighth place following a Lap 14 overtake, although Hamilton would receive a post-race time penalty for speeding in the pitlane under the safety car.
In the drivers’ standings, Verstappen extended his 25 point lead over Perez to 27 points.

Before the racing even commenced, Alpine’s Esteban Ocon received a ten-second time penalty for colliding with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in the pit lane on their way to the grid, as the Frenchman exited his pit box.
At lights out, Verstappen got a clean start to lead Leclerc but Perez lost a position to Ricciardo who had started fourth.
Slightly further back, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso collided which caused Stroll to tag Norris and end their races, whilst Alonso escaped with a puncture after contact with Hamilton as the Safety Car was deployed.
Tsunoda who had started 15th on the soft tyre benefitted from the chaos to move up to 10th, whilst home hero – Logan Sargeant recovered from 19th on the grid to 12th by opting for the soft tyre as well.
Racing resumed on Lap 4 as everyone held position but Perez cleared Ricciardo down the back straight a lap later to reclaim third.
Further back, Hamilton hunted down Magnussen for eighth but the latter cut the Turn 15 chicane on Lap 8 and consequently received a 10s time penalty, after he gained an advantage by extending his gap.
Magnussen retorted to a repeat of Jeddah and created a DRS train to protect Hulkenberg, during which he forced Hamilton wide on Lap 14, which allowed Tsunoda to pass the Brit for ninth but the pair passed Magnussen a lap later.
Verstappen eventually took victory from Leclerc, Perez, Ricciardo, Sainz, Piastri and Hulkenberg.
Tsunoda fought off Hamilton in the closing laps to snatch the final point in eighth place, but Hamilton received a 20s time penalty which dropped him to 16th position and elevated everyone from tenth downwards up one position in the final classification.
