Arsenal sit third by virtue of three fewer goals than Man City after they moved level with Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens following a 6-0 triumph at West Ham, where Bukayo Saka scored twice whilst William Saliba, Gabriel, Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice also netted.
Tottenham round out the top four after Brennan Johnson snatched a 96th minute winner in a 2-1 comeback win at home to Brighton, in which Pape Matar Sarr cancelled out Pascal Gross’ 17th minute penalty.
Down in the relegation zone, rock-bottom Sheffield United boosted their faint survival hopes with a shock 3-1 win at 17th-placed Luton, with Cameron Archer, James McAtee and Vini Souza on the scoresheet for the Blades despite Carlton Morris’ consolatory penalty for the Hatters.
Nottingham Forest remain two points above the bottom three after a 3-2 home loss to Newcastle in which Bruno Guimaraes netted twice for the Magpies, whilst Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi equalised twice for Forest either side of Fabian Schar’s goal for the visitors.
Crystal Palace stayed five points clear of the drop after they fell to a 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea, having led through Jefferson Lerma’s strike before Conor Gallagher struck twice for Mauricio Pochettino’s Blues with Enzo Fernandez completing their comeback in injury time.
Elsewhere, Scott McTominay headed in a 86th minute winner as Manchester United won 2-1 at Aston Villa to move to within five points of Unai Emery’s fifth-placed Villains, after Rasmus Højlund’s close-range strike had been cancelled out by Douglas Luiz’s equaliser.
Christian Norgaard’s header and Ivan Toney’s strike saw Brentford claim a 2-0 away win at Wolves.
Finally, Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s early goal and Rodrigo Muniz’s brace secured a 3-1 win for Fulham at home to Bournemouth, despite Marcos Senesi having pulled one back for Andoni Iraola’s Cherries in the 50th minute prior to Muniz’s second goal.
