Bruno Fernandes’ 39th minute rebound winner saw Manchester United stay fourth following a narrow home win over Aston Villa, in which the Portuguese midfielder punished Emiliano Martinez’s deflection of Marcus Rashford’s shot into his path.

Down in the relegation zone, Everton remain second-bottom after Alex Iwobi’s 54th minute low strike saw the Toffees snatch a 2-2 draw at Leicester, who climbed out of the bottom three on goal difference after Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy had put the Foxes ahead from behind.

Deniz Undav scored his first Premier League goals to fire Brighton to a ruthless 6-0 home victory over Wolves at the AMEX, during which Pascal Gross and Danny Welbeck also produced two goals apiece.
