2022-23 Premier League: Week 35 – Fulham vs Leicester

Leicester City continue their fight for Premier League survival with a trip to Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Victory would see Leicester move three points clear of the relegation zone in 16th position, whilst Fulham will stay 10th no matter the result.

Fulham have no fresh injury concerns to report after their midweek loss at Liverpool.

Tim Ream (arm), Layvin Kurzawa (knee), Andreas Pereira (leg) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (suspension) remain absent.

Leicester could welcome Ricardo Pereira and Jonny Evans back from respective hamstring and calf injuries.

Ryan Bertrand (knee), Jannik Vestergaard (calf), Kelechi Iheanacho (adductor) and James Justin (Achilles) remain absent.

When is Kick-Off

Fulham meet Leicester at 3pm BST on Bank Holiday Monday 8 May at Craven Cottage, albeit untelevised in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Fulham are unbeaten in three of their last five meetings against Leicester (W2, D1, L2).
  • Leicester are unbeaten in four of their last five visits to Fulham (W2, D2, L1).
  • Fulham are yet to concede a penalty in nine previous Premier League meetings against Leicester.
  • Tosin Adarabioyo has made more headeded clearances than any other Fulham player this season (61).
  • James Maddison is the only Leicester player to score league goals from free-kicks this season, having scored twice from a free-kick.

Prediction

Having endured two tough defeats in the past week against difficult opposition, Fulham should be proud of how they took the fight to both Manchester City and Liverpool but this is a chance to reset and finish the season as strongly as they can.

In fact, Marco Silva’s Cottagers were harshly done by in terms of refereeing at Anfield in midweek so I do expect them to be mentally fired up with a point to prove, because they did everything right in terms of attack but score and defended well overall.

Leicester meanwhile are still fighting for their lives with Nottingham Forest and Everton both playing later on Monday, so the Foxes know that a win here would put pressure on their rivals but they must defend better than they did in a tight 2-2 draw against Sean Dyche’s Toffees last week.

Dean Smith though should be pleased by how Leicester have responded positively to his attacking tactics with more confidence and goals, which hopefully will remain the case in West London against a team with nothing really left to play for.

Nevertheless, I do expect this game to be another tough contest for Smith’s Foxes but with various key players missing for an out-of-form Fulham, this could be a key win for the visitors.

Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Leicester

Result: Fulham 5-3 Leicester
