Arsenal continue to sit top of the table as the Premier League returned from the first international break of 2022-23 season.

Second-half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka fired league leaders, Arsenal to a 3-1 home win over third-placed North-London rivals, Tottenham after Thomas Partey’s opener was cancelled out by Harry Kane whilst the visitors’ Emerson Royal was dismissed for a 62nd minute foul.

Hat-tricks from Phil Foden and Erling Haaland fired second-placed Manchester City to a 6-3 home win over local rivals, Manchester United despite Anthony Martial’s late brace for the Red Devils.

Having scored twice to initially put fourth-placed Brighton 2-0 up in their first match under Roberto De Zerbi, Leandro Trossard completed a late hat-trick to rescue a 3-3 draw at Liverpool who had fought back to lead.

Conor Gallagher scored a 90th minute winner against his former club as Chelsea fought back to beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park for a first win under Graham Potter to go fifth, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cancelled out Odsonne Edouard’s seventh minute opener.

Down in the relegation zone, James Maddison’s brace fired Leicester to a 4-0 victory over East Midlands rivals, Nottingham Forest who slipped to the foot of the table below the Foxes.

Wolves slipped to third-bottom and sacked Bruno Lage as manager after suffering a 2-0 defeat at West Ham, as Gianluca Scamacca and Jarrod Bowen scored for the Hammers either side of half-time.

Elsewhere, Miguel Almiron scored twice as Newcastle United thrashed 10-men Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage, after Nathaniel Chalobah was red-carded in the eighth minute for a lunge on Sean Longstaff.

Quick-fire comeback goals from Conor Coady and Dwight McNeil fired Everton to a 2-1 victory away at Southampton, after the Saints briefly led through Joe Aribo’s 49th minute opener.

Leeds clung on for a scrappy goalless draw at home to Aston Villa despite being reduced to ten men, following Luis Sinisterra’s red card due to a double yellow-card booking for two separate fouls.

Finally, Bournemouth saw various penalty appeals dismissed in a competitive goalless draw at home to Brentford.
