A dramatic second matchweek saw reigning champions, Manchester City move top of 2022-23 Premier League.

Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne both provided goals and assists either side of Ilkay Gundogan’s opener and Jefferson Lerma’s 79th minute own goal, as Man City thrashed Bournemouth 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium to move top of the table.

Arsenal sit second after Gabriel Jesus delivered two goals and assists apiece in a 4-2 victory over Leicester at Emirates Stadium.

Goals from Josh Dasilva, Mathias Jensen, Ben Mee and Bryan Mbeumo saw Brentford thrash Manchester United 4-0 to go third, which left Utd sat rock-bottom as Erik ten Hag became the first Red Devils manager to lose his opening two matches in 101 years.

Harry Kane’s injury-time header saw Tottenham Hotspur round out the top four as Antonio Conte’s Spurs snatched a 2-2 draw at Chelsea, in a fiery encounter which will be best remembered for heated clashes between Conte and Blues’ manager, Thomas Tuchel during and post-match.

Everton dropped to third-bottom following a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa despite a late own goal from ex Toffee – Lucas Digne, after Ollie Watkins had assisted Danny Ings and Emiliano Buendia to initially put Villa 2-0 up.

Southampton moved outside of the bottom three after late goals from Joe Aribo and Kyle Walker-Peters rescued a 2-2 draw at home to Leeds, with the visitors having led through a brace from Rodrigo early in the second-half.

Newcastle are still yet to concede this season after a series of stunning saves by Nick Pope salvaged a goalless draw at Brighton.

Finally, Wolves clung on for their first point of the season in a goalless draw against Fulham at Molineux, with Jose Sa denying Aleksandr Mitrovic’s late penalty for the Cottagers.
