2021-22 FA Cup: Fourth Round – Wolves vs Norwich

Wolves welcome Norwich City to Molineux in an all Premier League tie in the Fourth Round of 2021-22 FA Cup.

Victory would see Wolves qualify for the Fifth Round for the third time in four seasons, whereas Norwich are looking to advance beyond this stage for the second time in three seasons.

Romain Saiss is set to return for Wolves after returning early from international duty after Morocco suffered a Quarter-Final exit at 2022 Africa Cup of Nations.

Raul Jimenez is set to return after shaking off a minor calf injury to join up with Mexico during the international break.

Jonny, Pedro Neto (both knee), Yerson Mosquera, Hee-Chan Hwang (both hamstring) and Willy Boly (calf) remain absent.

Norwich could welcome Billy Gilmour and Mathias Normann back into contention after recovering from respective ankle and pelvis injuries.

Tim Krul (shoulder), Jakob Sorensen (knee), Andrew Omobamidele (back) and Lukas Rupp (hamstring) are ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Wolves are unbeaten in three previous FA Cup meetings against Norwich (W2, D1).
  • Norwich have failed to win in each of their last two FA Cup visits to Molineux (D1, L1)
  • This is the first FA Cup clash between Wolves and Norwich this century, with Wolves having won their last clash in this competition away at Norwich 3-2 in January 1980.
  • Wolves have avoided defeat in four of their last five home matches against fellow Premier League opposition in the FA Cup (W3, D1, L1).
  • Norwich have won just one of their last five away FA Cup matches against fellow Premier League opposition, dating back to a 3-0 loss at Fulham in January 2014 (W1, D2, L2).

Prediction

Wolves are coming into this clash off the back of a confident win at Brentford in which their passing awareness and movement was excellent, whilst proving key to their victory in which they looked comfortable on the counter-attack with pace and energy.

Norwich meanwhile seem to finally be clicking as a team with Josh Sargent in particular proving a nightmare to handle last time out in a superb win against Norwich, so he will be one to watch here as the Canaries come into this game off the back of two well-earned wins.

I am therefore expecting a good match between these two teams because they’re both coming here in decent form, so it would be a surprise if we see another goalless draw as we saw in November in the Premier League given the progress of both teams recently.

Wolves though should just edge this because Norwich’s priority has to be on their relegation battle in the Premier League, although a cup run could just be what the Canaries need for morale and momentum.

Prediction: Wolves 1-0 Norwich

Result: Wolves 0-1 Norwich
