Cristian Romero (thigh) and Son Heung-min (calf) are both set to return for Tottenham if declared match fit.

Brighton could be without Alexis Mac Allister after the midfielder tested positive for Coronavirus during the international break.

Yves Bissouma (international duty), Enock Mwepu (hamstring) and Shane Duffy (ankle) are set to be in contention for selection.

Jason Steele (back) and Jeremy Sarmiento (hamstring) remain ruled out.

Stat Attack

  • Tottenham won their only previous FA Cup clash against Brighton, winning 2-1 at White Hart Lane in Third Round of 2004-05 FA Cup.
  • Brighton are winless in three away matches against Tottenham in all cup competitions (D1, L2).
  • Spurs have scored twice in two of their three previous home games against Brighton in all cup competitions.
  • Tottenham have won just one of their last five home FA Cup matches against Premier League opposition (W1, D2, L2).
  • Brighton have won just one of three previous away FA Cup matches against Premier League opposition (W1, L2).

Prediction

Tottenham will be eager to demonstrate progress following their fortnight off after their left flank was outclassed in their league defeat at Chelsea, whilst their attack looked solid if unspectacular at times but Hugo Lloris was their key player in limiting their loss to just two goals.

Having lost Dan Burn on Deadline Day, this game is going to be an interesting test for a resilient Brighton defence which was defensively strong last time out, as the Seagulls scrapped to a 1-1 draw at Leicester despite shaky passing quality but Danny Welbeck looked their best threat.

This clash should therefore be interesting because Brighton might be winless away to Spurs in cup competitions, yet they look the more solid and hungry coming into this clash but the return of Son Heung-min could be what Tottenham need to fight hard for the win.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Brighton

Result: Tottenham 3-1 Brighton
