Hitech GP have announced that Kaylen Frederick will join the team for the 2022 F3 season.

Frederick is continuing in F3 for a second season after making his debut with Carlin last season, during which he scored two points from 13 races after missing seven races with a thumb injury and a positive case of Coronavirus.

The 19 year-old American moved to Hitech GP for the 2021 post-season test where he improved across all three days to eventually finish seventh on the final day of running, which has led him to now sign for the British team for the 2022 season.

Speaking about his move up the F3 grid, Frederick said: “I am thrilled to race with Hitech GP for the 2022 FIA F3 season. Hitech have an established presence amongst many championships and a solid platform to build for success.

“We had a strong post-season test in Valencia and have continued to develop our working relationship.”

Frederick also praised Hitech GP for their efforts to help him acclimatise to his new environment and making him feel “super comfortable and confident” heading into the new season.

Hitech GP General Manager, Jay Davenport meanwhile confirmed that the team “are really pleased” to have signed the American after he delivered a “strong performance” during the post-season test, yet have iterated that they “are eager to see him carry this form over into the coming race season.”

Frederick graduated to single-seater racing in 2016 and spent his first three seasons racing in US. F2000 Championship plus two seasons F2000 Championship Series, prior to a switch to Europe with EuroFormula for two of last three rounds in 2018.

2019 and 2020 saw Frederick join Carlin in British F3 (now GB3) where he took 11 wins and nine pole positions in total, en route to the title in his second season in the category which led to him joining F3 last season.

F3 will commence the 2022 season in Bahrain next month between 18-20 March with Frederick partnering Isack Hadjar and a yet to be announced driver.
