Bromley’s player, Ben Thompson, and manager, Andy Woodman have been nominated for EFL League Two’s Player and Manager of January Awards.
Thompson’s player of the month nomination came after he scored four goals and produced one assist in six appearances across January, which included a memorable maiden senior hat-trick for the 30-year-old midfielder in the Ravens’ 4-1 victory at Gillingham, in which he also set up Corey Whitely’s goal in that game.
His other goal came in a 2-2 draw at home to Crewe Alexandra as the league leaders stuttered to a 2-2 draw, during which he netted their second goal as Bromley twice took the lead, before Mickey Demetriou’s injury-time equaliser denied them the win.
Thompson however faces competition from MK Dons’ Callum Paterson, Cambridge’s Ben Knight and Accrington Stanley’s Shaun Walley.
Woodman meanwhile is again up for manager of the month after he oversaw 14 points from six matches, which included their victory away at Kent rivals, Gillingham, plus a comeback win at home to Swindon alongside victories over Newport County and Tranmere Rovers.
The Ravens were however held to a goalless draw at Chesterfield in mid-January, whilst they played out a 2-2 draw at home to Crewe, in a month which saw key defender – Deji Elerewe depart for League One promotion challengers, Lincoln City.
Woodman in response signed Jesse Debrah and Zech Medley on loan from Port Vale and Fleetwood respectively to fill Elerewe’s void, with the two defensive signings handed immediate starts in the victory at Gillingham which he considered “a big risk” in his selection.
Salford’s Karl Robinson, Cambridge’s Neil Harris and Grimsby’ David Artell are also up for the managerial monthly gong, with Harris and Artell having overseen unbeaten January league-wise for their clubs.
The winners will be announced on Friday 13 February.
