Defender, Harry Maguire has signed a new one-year contract at Manchester United, with option for a further year until June 2028.
Maguire joined Man Utd from Leicester in August 2019 and has since gone on to contribute 17 goals and six assists in 266 appearances, and was part of the squad which won 2022-23 Carabao Cup and 2023-24 FA Cup titles.
The 33-year old has also been an integral part of Utd’s turnaround under interim manager, Michael Carrick since the latter replaced Ruben Amorim in January, which recently culminated in a recall to the England squad which saw him play the entire match in a 1-1 friendly draw against Uruguay.
His performances consequently led United to reward him with a new one-year contract until June 2027, albeit with option to extend for a further year until June 2028.
Following confirmation of his new contract, Maguire spoke of his pride at extending his stay at Old Trafford.
“Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour. It is a responsibility that makes myself and my family proud every single day.
“I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club to at least eight seasons and continue to play in front of our special supporters to create more amazing moments together.
“You can feel the ambition and potential of this exciting squad. The determination throughout the whole club to fight for major trophies is clear for everyone to see and I am confident that our best moments together remain ahead of us.”
Utd’s Sporting Director, Jason Wilcox added: “Harry represents the mentality and resilience required to perform for Manchester United. He is the ultimate professional who brings invaluable experience and leadership to our young, ambitious squad.
“Harry, like everyone at the club, is completely determined to help Manchester United to achieve regular and sustained success.”
