Mark Hammond has announced his decision to step down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Bromley Football Club.
His departure comes after a successful tenure saw him oversee Bromley’s rise from the National League into EFL Football League Two, and subsequent consolidation of their fourth-tier status with a 11th-placed finish in their first campaign at that level last season.
In a club statement, Bromley clarified that Hammond’s departure was a reflection of his ‘personal and professional ambition to pursue new challenges following a remarkable period of growth and progress both on and off the pitch.’
Hammond added that he will hold Bromley in his heart as he spoke of the “privilege” to work for the club over the years.
“It has been a privilege to serve this football club and to share in its journey. I have enormous affection for the staff, the players, and, above all, the supporters. After many incredible years, I feel it’s now time for me to explore life beyond Bromley.”
Club Owner and Chairman, Robin Stanton-Gleaves paid tribute to Hammond for his “contribution and commitment” to the club’s rise.
“The Club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Mark for his outstanding contribution and commitment to Bromley Football Club, particularly during this recent period of success.
“His unwavering work ethic and energy have been central to that progress and will be greatly missed. He leaves with the gratitude and respect of everyone connected with the Club.”
Hammond will serve a notice period in which he will oversee the Academy and Education Department, whilst supporting the transition process with his successor to ensure minimal disruption and further announcements will be made in due course.
