2025-26 Sky Bet Championship: Week Six – Monday

Millwall host Watford in a bottom-half Championship clash at The Den.

Victory by an one-goal margin would lift Millwall up to tenth in the table, but a win by two goals or more would see Alex Neil’s Lions go as high as seventh.

Watford if win by a single goal will go 11th but a win by two goals or more would lift them up to tenth.

Team News

Millwall have no fresh injury concerns to report following their Carabao Cup exit at Crystal Palace on penalties, following a 1-1 draw.

Massimo Luongo and Luke Cundle could be available after the pair recovered from knocks which saw them sit out the trip to Palace.

Lukas Jensen (Achilles), Danny McNamara (knee), Alfie Doughty, Femi Azeez (both hamstring), Billy Mitchell (quad), Casper De Norre and Rafiq Lamptey (both unspecified) remain absent.

Watford will welcome midfielder, Imran Louza back from his three-match suspension.

Nampalys Mendy (fitness), Pierre Dwomoh (thigh), Caleb Wiley (back/groin), Giorgi Chakvetadze (toe) and Jeremy Ngakia (groin) are doubts.

Othmane Maamma (international duty) and Jack Grieves (knee) are ruled out.

When is Kick-Off?

Millwall host Watford at The Den on Monday 22 September at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Stat Attack

  • Millwall have lost just one of their last six meetings against Watford (W4, D1, L1).
  • Watford have avoided defeat in four of their last seven league visits to Millwall (W2, D2, L3).
  • Millwall have kept clean sheets in three of their last four home games against Watford.
  • Alex Neil’s Lions have conceded five goals in two league games at home this season without reply (L2).
  • Hector Kyprianou and Kwadwo Baah have both been yellow carded in Watford’s opening two away trips of the league campaign (D1, L1).

Prediction

Consistency and finding a first league goal at home has been Millwall’s biggest issues this season which is disappointing given how well they went toe-to-toe with Palace in the Carabao Cup, but their final touches clearly have been their biggest issue which were often punished so a polished display is needed.

Watford likewise have similar issues in attack and defence but they do at least keep their results tight both home and away which will give them some confidence, especially knowing that Millwall have struggled at home in their two league outings so will be eager to get that first goal.

I however don’t feel that this will be particularly exciting but Millwall will probably find a first league goal at home of the season, such is the leakiness within the defences of both clubs.

Prediction: Millwall 1-1 Watford

Result: Millwall 1-0 Watford
