Danish forward, Rasmus Hojlund has joined Napoli on a season-long loan from Manchester United with a conditional obligation to buy next summer.

Hojlund’s move has brought a tough two-year spell at Old Trafford to an end in which he only registered 26 goals and four assists in 95 appearances and won 2023-24 FA Cup.

Following extensive negotiations throughout summer, Napoli agreed a total £43.3m package which consisted of a £5.2m loan fee for this season followed by a £38.1m permanent transfer if conditions are met throughout the loan spell.

This loan also marks a return to Italy and Serie A for Hojlund who had previously spent 2022-23 season at Atalanta where he scored ten goals in 34 appearances prior to his move to Utd.

Utd issued a brief statement wishing the Dane well at Napoli, where he reunites with ex Red Devil, Scott McTominay.

“We’d like to wish Rasmus good luck for the campaign ahead.”

Hojlund began his senior career at Copenhagen with his debut in October 2020 and proceeded to score five goals in 32 appearances across the following ten months as the Danish club won 2021-22 Danish Superliga title – even after his move to Austria’s Sturm Graz in August 2021 for a year in which he delivered 12 goals in 21 appearances.
