England midfielder, Georgia Stanway has joined Arsenal on a free transfer.

Stanway left Bayern Munich at the end of June once her contract expired following a four-season spell in which she scored 32 goals in 128 appearances, and helped them to four Frauen-Bundesliga titles plus two DFB-Pokal Frauen and DFB-Supercup Frauen titles apiece.

“It’s an unbelievable feeling and I’m so proud to be joining Arsenal,” commented Georgia. “This is a massive club that is driving the women’s game forward to new levels and I want to be a part of it. I want to win trophies and grow as a player, and this is the right place to do that with the backing of an incredible fanbase.”

Arsenal Women’s Head Coach, Renee Slegers added: “Georgia is a brilliant midfielder and we’re thrilled that she is an Arsenal player. She will add a new dimension to our midfield, bringing experience and adding to our winning mentality. We look forward to getting down to work in pre-season ahead of a big campaign ahead.”

Arsenal’s Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley added that the club are “delighted” to sign Stanway who she believes can bring leadership and title experience to the squad.

“Georgia is among the best midfielders in the world with a proven track record of success at club and international level. She brings strong leadership, character and competitiveness and I know our supporters will enjoy watching her play in red and white.”
