Roundup of the final round of group stage matches at 2025 UEFA Under-21s Euro as the final eight were finalised.
Whilst Group A was sorted in the second round of matches aside from top spot, Groups B, C and D still had top spot plus the second knockout qualification spots hanging in the balance.
Lee Carsley’s England in particular found themselves as one of a few teams who had their fate in their own hands as the group phase drew to its close.
Group A
Spain topped Group A from Italy after the pair played out a 1-1 draw in which Jesus Rodriguez put the 2023 runners-up ahead in the 53rd minute, only for Niccolo Pisilli to equalise six minutes later for the Italians.
Goals from Adam Obert and Tomas Suslov saw hosts, Slovakia finish the group in third place with a 2-1 win over Romania, despite Umit Akdag’s consolatory effort for the Romanians.

Group B
First-half goals from Ansgar Knauff and Nelson Weiper saw Germany defeat England 2-1 to top Group B despite Alex Scott’s second-half consolatory effort for the Young Lions.
England however progressed as Group B runners-up after Slovenia suffered a 2-0 loss to Czech Republic, as Daniel Fila and Vaclav Sejk netted for the Czechs after half-time.

Group C
Portugal romped to a comfortable Group C topping 4-0 victory over Georgia through goals from Rodrigo Pinheiro, Geovany Quenda, Rodrigo Gomes and Henrique Araujo’s 95th-minute penalty.
France qualified as Group C runners-up with a 4-1 win over Poland through Nathan Zeze’s first-half effort and Djaoui Cisse’s brace, before Matthis Abline sealed the result after Ariel Mosor nicked a consolatory goal for the Polish.

Group D
Conrad Harder’s brace proved enough for Denmark to win Group D with a 2-2 draw against Finland, after Naatan Skytta and Topi Keskinen salvaged a point for the Finnish from 2-0 down.
Luciano Valente and Thom van Bergen found the net as Netherlands defeated Ukraine 2-0 to snatch the Group D runner-up spot.

Blockbuster Quarter-Finals
Reigning champions, England will meet Spain in the Quarter-Finals which marks a rematch of the final in 2023, as the pair do battle for a place in the semi-finals against Portugal or Netherlands.
Both of those two Quarter-Final ties will be played on Saturday 21 June with Portugal’s showdown against Netherlands up first at 6pm CEST (5pm BST) in Zilinia, Slovakia, followed by England’s marquee tie against Spain in Trnava at 9pm CEST (8pm BST).
Germany will meet Italy and France face Denmark in the other Quarter-Finals on Sunday 22 June, with kick-off times still to be confirmed.
