Atlanta United have signed Ivorian forward, Emmanuel Latte Lath from Middlesbrough in a £22m transfer deal.
Latte Lath’s decision to join Atlanta comes after 17 months at Middlesbrough where he scored 29 goals in 67 appearances, during which Boro reached the semi-finals of last season’s Carabao Cup where they lost to Chelsea 6-2 on aggregate – having won their home leg then suffered a heavy defeat in the away leg.
His performances ultimately caught Atlanta’s eye who made a double North-East swoop following the capture of Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron for £11m, with Boro accepting a £22m total offer for Latte Lath which consisted of a £18m initial fee plus a further £4m in add-ons.
“He’s a forward with excellent pace and good goal-scoring instincts,” commented Atlanta United Sporting Director, Chris Henderson. “His ability to stretch the field will add another dimension to our attack.”
Boro added: “Manu departs with the best wishes of everyone at MFC and we wish him well for the future.”
Latte Lath’s final appearance for Boro came in a 2-1 Championship loss at Preston where he was substituted just 11 minutes in due to injury.
