Bromley kept a first clean sheet in ten matches following a 0-0 draw away to Fleetwood Town.
A scrappy contest saw both teams waste chances throughout but Bromley’s Michael Cheek went closest, as he bent a low shot wide in the 63rd minute.
The goalless draw meant that Fleetwood moved up to sixth in the League Two table, whilst Bromley climbed to 16th ahead of the 3pm BST kick-offs.
Having thrashed Walsall in midweek, Fleetwood were pre-match favourites but they surprisingly struggled to make early inroads into a Bromley defence – which hadn’t kept a clean sheet in nine games across all competitions prior to kick-off.
Bromley almost capitalised upon their strong start in the 10th minute but Danny Imray’s shot was deflected by Mackenzie Hunt, before Callum Reynolds nodded wide from the subsequent corner.
Michael Cheek missed a chance to net his seventh league goal of the season with a scruffed shot in the 14th minute, which David Harrington saved.
Idris Odutayo fired wide with a long-range 22nd minute shot as Bromley continued to stay on top.
Harrington however spared Fleetwood’s blushes with a double-save from two Imray shots in the 26th minute, before he then blocked Omar Sowunmi’s shot a minute later.
Ryan Graydon though looked Fleetwood’s best hope of a first-half goal but he only went close in the 29th minute, as his shot hit the left-side netting.
Bromley eventually finished the half on top with their fourth first-half clean sheet in five away games this season, having only conceded twice on the road during the opening half in a 3-1 loss at Bradford in August 2024.
Andy Woodman’s Ravens found themselves under immediate pressure early in the second half, as Matty Virtue fired wide then Brendon Sarpong-Wiredu nodded wide from a corner-kick.
Virtue saw a further chance deflected wide in the 55th minute and a subsequent corner was punched away by Grant Smith, just moments after Virtue had seen a cross deflected towards Hunt who fired his shot over the bar.
Virtue continued to go close for Fleetwood but nodded Danny Mayor’s cross wide on the hour mark.
The 27 year-old then put a rebound cross wide from a corner clearance following Mayor’s blocked rebound shot following Ronan Coughlan’s initial effort.
Imray however again proved to be Bromley’s most creative player as he twice in quick succession teed up Cheek, who saw his first shot blocked then he curled his second attempt wide of the right corner.
Substitute, Levi Amantchi curled wide of the top-left corner in the 73rd minute from Imray’s pass, as the Ravens continued to press for a late winner.
Their attacking gamble however left them vulnerable at the back but Mark Helm and Graydon both wasted chances for Fleetwood on quick counter-attacks.
Bromley eventually clung on for a goalless draw which meant that their winless run extended to eight matches, but they managed a first clean sheet since their win over AFC Wimbledon in their first home league match as an EFL club.
What’s Next?
Fleetwood head to Port Vale on Saturday 19 October at 3pm BST in their next league game, after their home clash against Colchester on 12 October was postponed due to international call-ups.
Bromley likewise are not in action on 12 October with their trip to Walsall postponed for the same reasons, meaning that their next league match on 19 October at 3pm sees them host Tranmere.
