2022-23 Premier League: Week 32 – Bournemouth vs West Ham

Bournemouth face West Ham at Vitality Stadium in a relegation six-pointer showdown in race for Premier League survival.

Victory would see Bournemouth climb to 13th in the table, whilst West Ham themselves can leapfrog the Cherries with a win and improve to 13th with a six-point gap to the relegation zone.

Matias Vina is a doubt for Bournemouth after he suffered a minor back injury during their dramatic comeback win at Tottenham.

Hamed Traore (foot), Ryan Fredericks (calf) and Junior Stanislas (unspecified) remain absent.

West Ham could welcome Angelo Ogbonna back into contention after he missed their Europa Conference League win over Gent at home on Thursday evening, due to a back injury.

Gianluca Scamacca (knee) remains absent.

When is Kick-Off?

Bournemouth host West Ham at Vitality Stadium in a 2pm BST kick-off on Sunday 23 April, untelevised in UK.

Stat Attack

  • Bournemouth have claimed seven points from their last five meetings against West Ham (W2, D1, L2).
  • West Ham have won just one of their last five visits to Bournemouth (W1, D2, L2).
  • Bournemouth have claimed just one clean sheet in five Premier League matches at home against West Ham, which saw them win 2-0 in January 2019.
  • Four of Philip Billing’s seven league goals for Bournemouth this season has been scored on his left foot.
  • Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma have been involved in more league goals than any other West Ham player this season, having both produced five goals and three assists apiece.

Prediction

Sat five points above the drop, Bournemouth surely have a huge opportunity to take a massive leap towards safety if they show the same clinical spirit which saw them stun Tottenham, amidst plenty of gutsy defending and saves in a brave but impressive performance.

West Ham meanwhile have conceded first in their last two home games before fighting back but unlike their draw against Arsenal last Sunday, they never let up once they hit their stride with clinical goals and plenty of attacking quality but their defensive sloppiness does remain an issue.

Now if both teams can bring their brave attacking spirit of the past week then I can foresee an entertaining encounter, especially given that a win would realistically see both teams edge even closer towards survival.

In terms of the winner, this could well come down to whichever team is most clinical and defensively solid but I can see a draw coming on the South Coast.

Prediction: Bournemouth 1-1 West Ham

Result: Bournemouth 0-4 West Ham
