Arsenal survived a fierce scare to stay top of the Premier League in a dramatic matchweek.
Phillip Billing’s strike after nine seconds plus Marcos Sensei’s header saw Bournemouth lead 2-0 after 57 minutes, only for Reiss Nelson’s powerful shot to secure a 3-2 win for league leaders – Arsenal in the 97th minute following comeback goals from Thomas Partey and Ben White.
Goals from Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva saw Manchester City defeat Newcastle United 2-0 at the Etihad to stay five points behind in second place.
Third-placed Manchester United slipped 14 points behind Mikel Arteta’s Gunners following a shock 7-0 loss at Liverpool, in which Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah all scored twice and Roberto Firmino added their final goal in the 88th minute.
Tottenham round out the top four despite suffering a 1-0 defeat at Wolves, as Adama Traore struck a 82nd minute rebound winner after Raul Jimenez’s shot was saved.

Down in the relegation zone, Carlos Alcaraz rifled in a 35th minute as Southampton scraped a narrow home win over Leicester which lifted the Saints off the foot of the table at Bournemouth’s expense.
Comeback goals from Brennan Johnson saw Nottingham Forest snatch a 2-2 draw at the City Ground to keep Everton inside the relegation zone, after the Toffees twice led in the first half through Demarai Gray and Abdoulaye Doucoure.
Leeds sit outside of the bottom three on goal difference after suffering a 1-0 loss at Chelsea, courtesy of Wesley Fofana’s headed winner in the 53rd minute.

Elsewhere, second-half goals from Ivan Toney and Mathias Jensen saw Brentford snatch a 3-2 home win against their West London neighbours, Fulham, after Ethan Pinnock’s opening goal was cancelled out by Manor Solomon’s equaliser whilst Carlos Vinicius got an injury-time consolatory goal.
Alexis Mac Allister scored a first-half penalty and provided the assist for Joel Veltman’s goal, before Kaoru Mitoma and Danny Welbeck rounded out Brighton’s 4-0 mauling of West Ham.
Finally, Joachim Andersen deflected Matty Cash’s 27th minute cross into his own net to give Aston Villa a narrow home victory over ten-men Crystal Palace, as the Eagles finished a man down after Cheick Doucoure’s red card n the 62nd minute following two separate bookings.
