Rehanne Skinner has signed a new two-year contract to extend her stay as manager of Tottenham Hotspur Women.
Skinner first joined Spurs in November 2020 following the sackings of Karen Hills and Juan Amoros, as the former England Lionesses assistant eventually guided the club from 11th position at time of appointment to an eventual eighth placed finish in the Women’s Super League (WSL).
This season saw Skinner and Tottenham enjoy further progress in which the team has spent the entire campaign sat inside the WSL’s top six, including a high of second place across weeks three and four.
Skinner also guided the club to the semi-finals of the 2021-22 Women’s League Cup, where they lost to eventual champions, Manchester City.
Tottenham have consequently handed Skinner a new two-year contract to keep her in North London until summer 2024, as the club look to consolidate this season’s improvements in their final five matches of the campaign and beyond.
Speaking about her decision to stay at Spurs for two further seasons, a “delighted” Skinner said: “Throughout the course of my time here I’ve felt really supported by the Club in terms of the vision we have as a collective.
“We’re on a journey and it’s a chance for us to keep building. We know where we are and where a club of Tottenham Hotspur’s stature should be.
“You can’t underestimate the value of top-quality training facilities and we’ve been supported completely. The Club is meeting my ambitions and we know the direction we want to go in.”
Tottenham Chairman, Daniel Levy added that he is “delighted” to retain Skinner as he spoke of the club’s progress and future expectations, as he said: “The team has delivered consistently strong performances and I know Rehanne and her coaching staff are driven to take them even further.
“We’re all excited about what the future holds.”
Tottenham are next in action on Sunday 24 April as the club host London rivals, Chelsea at The Hive in a 2:30pm (BST) kick-off on BBC One in the UK.
