Kit Graham has signed a new one-year extension to stay at Tottenham Hotspur Women until end of June 2023, with the option for a further year.
Graham joined Tottenham in August 2019 from Charlton Athletic after the North London club secured promotion from the FA Women’s Championship to the Women’s Super League, and has since scored eight goals in 52 appearances across all competitions.
This season also saw Graham make history as she became the first female player at Tottenham to score in the men’s stadium, having struck a 40th minute winner to defeat Birmingham City in September 2021 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Speaking about her decision to commit to Spurs for at least another season as she continues to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Graham said: “I’m really happy to sign a new contract. I’ve had a tough few months but it’s great to have that security and support from the Club.”
Graham also spoke about the mental benefits of signing this new contract whilst injured despite five months of negotiations, as she felt that the contract offer provided her with “peace of mind” and enabled her to “focus” solely on her rehab without worry of her contract expiring this summer.
Tottenham Women’s manager, Rehanne Skinner added that she is “delighted” to retain Graham beyond this season, as she insisted that the 26 year-old has ” proved that she is a key part of our team and how we want to move forward.”
Skinner also praised the decision to get contract negotiations finalised during Graham’s rehab work as she added: “I think it’s important to look after our players when they go through difficult times and we are in full support of Kit on her journey back to the pitch which is progressing nicely.”
Confirmation of Graham’s contract extension comes just one day after Skinner renewed her contract to stay on as manager.
Tottenham are next in action live on BBC One on Sunday 24 April at home to Chelsea in the WSL, with kick-off set for 2:30pm BST.
