Becky Spencer has signed a new two-year contract to stay at Tottenham Hotspur Women until June 2024.

Spencer has made 51 first-team appearances as first-choice goalkeeper since she joined the club from West Ham United in June 2019, during which she made her first Tottenham appearance on their Women’s Super League debut away to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in September 2019.

Speaking about her decision to stay with Spurs for two more seasons, Spencer said: “The direction the Club is going in, the staff, players, and fans made the decision really easy for me. I feel comfortable here, it’s like a home. Where we are now is incredible and I can’t wait to see what is to come.”

During her time at Tottenham, Spencer has started each of the 39 WSL matches that she has played in, having made 172 saves against shots on target plus conceded 55 goals across the last three WSL seasons.

Confirmation of Spencer’s new contract comes less than 48 hours after Canada international, Shelina Zadorsky signed a new one-year contract to stay in North London.

Zadorsky initially joined Tottenham in August 2020 on loan from Orlando Pride for game time, due to the Coronavirus pandemic preventing America’s NWSL season from taking place, with her loan becoming permanent in January 2021.

The 29 year-old centre-back explained that Spurs’ progress in the last two seasons following manager – Rehanne Skinner’s arrival is “so exciting”, as the club seeks “to keep building a winning culture” after nearly reaching the 2021-22 Women’s League Cup Final.

Zadorsky also paid tribute to Skinner and the rest of the coaching team for their support in her development as she added: “Working with Rehanne and the rest of our staff has made me a better player and I want to keep growing. It’s a huge honour to play for the Club.”

Last week saw Skinner commit her future to the club alongside Kit Graham and Ashleigh Neville.
