Glenn Murray Joins Nottingham Forest On Permanent Transfer

Veteran striker, Glenn Murray has departed Brighton & Hove Albion to join Nottingham Forest on a permanent transfer.

Murray had his loan deal at Watford where he had made just six appearances terminated in order to seal the permanent move to Forest from Brighton.

Speaking on reuniting with Murray of who played under Chris Hughton for the Seagulls across three seasons until May 2019, Hughton said: “Glenn is a player I know very well and he has an excellent pedigree at this level.”

Hughton also added that Murray will ‘add leadership and experience’ as Forest find themselves in a relegation scrap, currently sitting just above the drop zone in 21st position ahead of Rotherham.

Commenting on Murray’s goal scoring ability, Hughton is excited to see what the 37 year-old brings to the squad, saying; “He is a proven goalscorer at Premier League and Championship level and has continued to keep himself fit so we are looking forward to what he can bring to the squad…”

Brighton Head Coach, Graham Potter meanwhile said in September when the veteran striker joined Watford on loan, that Murray ‘will always be welcome back here at the club’ at both the training ground and AMEX Stadium.

Potter also described Murray as a ‘legend’ of Brighton and hopes that fans will be able to get the opportunity to show their appreciation for Murray when spectators are permitted to return to the AMEX following two separate spells at the club.

Seagulls’ Chairman, Tony Bloom meanwhile spoke of Murray having played a pivotal role across several key moments for the club, from firing them into the Championship ready for their move to the AMEX to helping the club clinch promotion in 2017 then survive three top-flight relegation scraps.

Bloom concluded by saying: “As chairman, and on behalf of all Albion fans I would like to thank Glenn for all he has done for the club.”
