Leeds United continue to close in on automatic promotion whilst the relegation battle continues to throw up more surprises. 

Mateusz Klich put Leeds ahead from the penalty spot against Stoke shortly before half-time, before Helder Costa doubled their lead just two minutes after the restart when he fired in a pass from Stuart Dallas. 

Goals from Liam Cooper, Pablo Hernandez and Patrick Bamford eventually completed a five goal rout, which leaves Stoke sat a point above the drop in 21st place on goal difference from Charlton. 

West Brom remain a point behind in second after goals from Grady Diangana and Dara O’Shea clinched victory over Derby.

Late second-half goals from Said Benrahma and Ethan Pinnock saw Brentford remain third, as the Bees overturned Macauley Bonne’s eighth minute opener to defeat Charlton. 

Harry Arter’s 25-yard strike proved enough to gift Fulham victory and a five point margin over Nottingham Forest, who sit in fifth and now look consigned to the promotion play-offs. 

Cardiff round out the top six after losing 3-2 at home to Blackburn Rovers, despite twice conceding from in front before Adam Armstrong’s superb blast from 45 yards sealed an away win for Rovers.

Down in the relegation zone, Luton remain at the foot of the Championship after Luke Berry’s 13th minute effort was cancelled out by Aapo Halme in a 1-1 draw against Barnsley who sit just a point above the Hatters. 

Jordy de Wijs’ header proved to be a consolation goal for Hull who slip into the relegation zone, after Famara Diedhiou and Jamie Paterson snatched victory for Bristol City. 

Middlesbrough climbed out of the bottom three after late strikes from Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher proved enough to defeat Millwall at The Den. 

Wigan could still be relegated at end of season through a 12 point deduction, although Kieffer Moore’s 30th minute winner over QPR boosted their survival hopes.

Elsewhere, Swansea overturned Lukas Jutkiewicz’s early headed opener to hand Birmingham City a 3-1 home loss, consequently bringing Pep Clotet’s time at St Andrew’s to an earlier end than initially planned as he was set to leave at end of season. 

Sheffield Wednesday blew a Jacob Murphy to eventually lose 3-1 at home to Preston and end a seven match winless run for the Lilywhites. 

Finally, Reading held Huddersfield to a goalless draw at the Madejski Stadium.
