Bromley have signed defender, Richard Taylor from Bolton Wanderers on loan for the 2026-27 season.

Taylor’s move comes after a difficult 2025-26 season at Bolton where he scored just one goal in 14 appearances, which came as a 69th-minute winner in a 2-1 first-round victory over Huddersfield in last season’s FA Cup, with the defender .

He managed just seven regular-season league appearances – consisted of one start and six substitute appearances – and played no part in the Trotters’ victorious play-off campaign, with his other seven appearances having come as a member of the starting line-ups in Bolton’s FA Cup and EFL Trophy matches.

Bolton manager, Steven Schumacher consequently decided to allow the 25-year-old Hackney-born defender to leave the club on loan, as the Trotters prepare for their first Championship season since they were relegated at end of the 2018-19 campaign.

Taylor began his career at Burnley as part of their academy but failed to break through into the senior squad amidst a loan at Colne, which proved successful as he earned a move to Southend United in May 2019 where he made 19 appearances in two seasons.

He spent time on loan at Barnet during his second season at Southend but managed just four appearances, before stints at Dulwich Hamlet and Dagenham & Redbridge followed, prior to a successful 2022 season at Ireland’s Waterford with one goal in 35 appearances.

Taylor subsequently moved to Scotland’s St Mirren where he scored twice in 83 appearances across a two-and-a-half year spell between January 2023 – May 2025.
