Leeds United look to boost their unlikely Premier League title ambitions against Crystal Palace.
Victory could put Leeds up to third and potentially one point off the summit if Manchester City lose to Sunderland.
Palace could go as high as 11th with a win.
Team News
Harry Wilson is ruled out for Leeds after he suffered a quad injury during their 4-1 win over Newcastle.
Joe Rodon (hamstring) and Mateo Joseph (ACL) remain absent.
Palace will be without Axel Disasi as he serves a domestic one-match ban following his red card in their 3-2 Premier League loss against Ipswich, although he was involved in their 4-0 Europa League victory over Lech Poznan in midweek.
Jean-Philippe Mateta (hamstring), Dean Henderson (ankle) and Chadi Riad (knee) are still absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Leeds host Palace at Elland Road on Sunday 20 September at 2pm BST, live on Sky Sports Tennis in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Leeds have won one of their last five Premier League meetings against Palace (W1, D2, L2).
- Palace have claimed seven points from three of their seven previous Premier League trips to Leeds (W2, D1, L4).
- Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored three goals in Leeds’ two league matches at home so far this season (W1, D1).
- Palace’s Jorgen Strand Larsen has registered more shots on target in the top flight this season than any of his teammates (3).
Prediction
After a ruthlessly hard-pressing victory over Newcastle in which their intensity was resilient with a nice energetic pace and clinical finishing, Leeds now need to bring that level into this game because this is a great chance to go into the international break with a potential sniff of the summit.
Palace meanwhile were ruthlessly clinical in their Europa League victory over Lech Poznan in an otherwise tight game in terms of shots produced, so I now want to see them bring that quality into this match and avoid defensive errors if want to avoid spending the break flirting with the bottom three.
Fitness though could play a part and Palace did struggle at times last season with the Thursday to Sunday routine – especially in the Europa League’s knockout stages, so I think that Leeds’ intensity could pay off if they are patient.
Prediction: Leeds 2-1 Crystal Palace
Result: Leeds 0-0 Crystal Palace
