Victor Adeboyejo’s 70th-minute finish saw Bromley beat Barnsley at Oakwell on their League One debut.
Ex Tyke, Adeboyejo turned Ethon Archer’s 70th-minute shot into the bottom left corner to settle a competitive fixture, just two minutes after the pair had come on as substitutes in the 68th minute.
Barnsley sit 21st in the table whilst Bromley are in eighth position following completion of the opening matches.
With nothing to lose in their maiden match in League One, Bromley unsurprisingly created the first chance as Kamil Conteh nodded wide in the fifth minute, before Ben Thompson then put a shot wide four minutes later.
Pinnock meanwhile saw an one-on-one chance blocked by Barnsley goalkeeper, Rogan Ravenhill as the Ravens quickly asserted their presence in the third tier.
Barnsley subsequently began to show their experience as Arley Kay, Cameron McGeehan and Tyrese Noslin put shots wide, whilst Luke Alker saw a 11th-minute shot saved by Shamal George and the latter then saved a 25th-minute header from Patrick Kelly.
Daniel Stendel’s Tykes went close to breaking the deadlock in the 31st minute but Noslin struck the bar with his right-footed shot from outside of the box.
Bromley’s Marcus Ifill in response three minutes later had a shot blocked, which led Michael Cheek to nod wide from the subsequent corner.
Barnsley’s in-demand winger, Reyes Clearly then set up a 37th-minute cross which Kay met a header which was cleared, before he himself then rifled over six minutes later.
A frantic four minutes of first-half injury time saw the Tykes’ McGeehan and Luca Connell’s shots blocked, whilst Pinnock curled wide of the right corner as neither team found an opening goal before the break.
Barnsley swiftly took control of the second half but with little end product, whilst Cheek saw two successive shots in the 49th minute blocked by Josh Earl then Ravenhill.
Connell in the 63rd minute played Clearly through past new Bromley captain, Omar Sowunmi but the forward chipped his shot straight into George’s chest.
Barnsley’s wasteful finishing soon came to haunt them in the 70th minute as a quick break into the box from Bromley saw the ball fed to Archer on the edge of the box, from which the winger curled a low shot towards the far-bottom left corner which Adeboyejo tucked in with the final touch at the left post.
Archer almost heaped further misery on the Tykes just two minutes later as he met Pinnock’s cross yet flicked his attempt over the top right corner.
Barnsley subsequently turned up their attacking pressure but George was alert to block Cleary’s 84th-minute shot.
Andy Woodman’s Ravens eventually survived nine minutes of injury time to preserve their unbeaten opening-weekend record and clean sheets in the EFL, having won 2-0 at Harrogate then drawn 0-0 at Shrewsbury in League Two in the last two seasons.

Barnsley visit Doncaster at Club Doncaster Sports Village in their first away match of the season on Saturday 22 August at 12:30pm BST.
Bromley meanwhile will be at home on the same date as they entertain Cambridge United at the CopperJax Stadium in a 3pm kick-off.
