Inter Milan have signed full-back, Djed Spence from Tottenham Hotspur for £25.6m.
Spence’s move comes after a successful 2026 FIFA World Cup with England as he produced a series of impressive performances across both right and left-back positions as the Three Lions finished third.
He however had started just two of Spurs’ last six matches of last season prior to the World Cup after he failed to fit into Roberto De Zerbi’s plans following the Italian’s arrival in late March, which led the club to sell him for £25.6m plus add-ons to Inter Milan.
Spence has signed a five-year contract at Inter until June 2031 which marked the end of his four-year spell in North London, during which he scored twice in 85 appearances and was part of the squad which won the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League title.
The 26-year-old however has previous Italian experience after he spent the second half of the 2023-24 season with Genoa, where he made 16 appearances after frustrating loan spells at Rennes and Leeds in 2023.
In a post on X, Spence thanked Spurs for giving him “memories, moments and experiences” which he will treasure.
“A special chapter comes to an end, It’s been some journey, with plenty of memories, moments and experiences that I’ll carry with me for forever, especially that night in Bilbao. Thanks to all the staff members who’ve helped me along the way, the players who’ve become family & most importantly thank you to the fans. Time for a new chapter now, but Spurs will always have a place in my heart.”

Spence began his career with Peckham Town, Junior Elite and Fulham at youth level before he joined Middlesbrough in summer 2018 and went on to score twice in 70 appearances across three seasons, which led to a move to Nottingham Forest on loan in 2021-22 season which saw him net three goals in 46 appearances.
Spence also represents England at international level with 14 senior caps since his debut in a 5-0 win away to Serbia in September 2025.
