Bromley midfielder, Ashley Charles has been ruled out with a serious cruciate injury.
Charles suffered a serious cruciate injury during the Ravens’ Carabao Cup first-round exit against Reading in their season-opening match, which forced him to miss their maiden League One victory away at Barnsley last weekend.
Manager, Andy Woodman has now confirmed the serious nature of the 27-year-old’s injury and unlikely chance of a return this season in his pre-match preview ahead of their first home match in League One against Cambridge United on Saturday 22 August.
“Ashley has sadly snapped his cruciate and has done some other damage in his knee. He’s had an operation, and I don’t think we’ll be seeing him again this season which is a real blow for not only Ashley, but for us too.”
Woodman proceeded to add that the timeframe is likely to be July or August next year given the reality of cruciate injuries.
“We’ve been very supportive of Ashley and we wish him well and hopefully he’ll be back before next season, that would be a bonus. However, with that sort of injury, we know it’s going to be about a year.”
Charles’ injury blow also came after he signed a new three-year contract ahead of the season to stay at the club until June 2029.
