Defender, Chanse Headman is “ready for this challenge” following his move to Bromley.

Headman is Bromley’s fourth signing of the window after he completed a transfer from Harrogate for an undisclosed transfer fee, having scored twice in 16 appearances for the Sulphurites as they suffered relegation from League Two to National League after he joined them in January 2026.

The 21 year-old in his first interview with Bromley’s YouTube channel revealed that he is excited for the challenge ahead as Bromley look to enjoy a solid maiden League One campaign and avoid relegation straight back to the fourth tier.

“No, I’m buzzing to be here. Um something that been in talks for a while and yeah, as soon as I kind of heard the opportunity arise, just wanted to get done as soon as possible.

“Obviously, I’m a London boy. Um first kind of taste of senior football going to Harrogate, but yeah, I feel like I’m ready for this challenge and yeah, absolutely buzzing to get over the line.”

Headman is also relishing the chance to play under manager, Andy Woodman as he spoke highly of the gaffer’s personality and ability to develop his game to new levels, whilst also bonding with his new teammates.

“100%. I’ve had a few chats with him. Definitely seems like a character that I want to work with and definitely a manager I want to work with. Um I’m someone that likes to build relationships with people and have a lot of trust in my manager and people upstairs.

“And um yeah, he’s definitely someone who I feel like could push me in the areas I need to be pushed and then strive forward from there.”

“Don’t know any of them yet. I was seeing the new crowds last season, but yeah, so it’s a new changing room for me, so looking forward to meeting all the boys and stuff and yeah, working with them this season.”

Headman has familial connections to the club in terms of support and commercial links so is pleased to be back in his home city, especially with his mother who was glad to welcome him home – having previously been part of Brentford’s Academy before he moved to Harrogate.

“Yeah, no my family are delighted. I think got family that support the club. Uh cousin that sponsors the club and stuff, so when they heard about it, they were buzzing. I think my granddad was happy. Yes, probably.

“My mum was happy that I was back home after being so far and stuff and yeah, all the family are delighted that I’m here now, so be nice to see them in the stands with a smile on their face when I’m on the pitch.”

Despite having spent just under seven months at Harrogate, Headman lauded the club for giving him valuable experience at senior level and of a relegation fight.

“I think going from under-21s football to running in the deep end in League Two in a relegation battle was never going to be easy. But I’m never someone that’s going to back down from a challenge, you know, so just kind of took it in my stride and tried to help the team as much as I could.

“I mean, we went down on the last day, which is a bit unfortunate, but it was by a point, so we done well to get to where we did.

“But, um yeah, the experience that I took from that was something that you can’t buy. Um so, definitely it’s bringing that here and that hunger to to win games and just do as well as I can for the team when I’m on the pitch. I’m someone that’s going to give it my all and do anything to win.

“Whatever that looks like, so yeah, that experience has definitely helped me now and ready to bring it here and add to the team.”

During his time at Harrogate, Headman featured in their 0-0 draw at home against Bromley and wasn’t afraid to quip that the Sulphurites should of won that match, even though he was facing Ben Krauhaus who was one of his teammates at Brentford but on loan back to Bromley last season.

He added that Krauhaus was part of his decision to move back to London and join the Ravens following conversations with the midfielder.

“Yeah, I did. It was actually a really good game. Probably shouldn’t say this, but I think we should have probably won that day. Uh but, no, it was a good game and seeing the way that Bromley played that game and the kind of set-up that they have and obviously being really good mates with Krauhaus and speaking to him a fair bit about it.

“Um he couldn’t talk any more highly of the club, so yeah, it’s a club that I’ve had my eye on and wanted to be at for a while and now I’m just delighted to be here.”

Teasing fans as to what they can expect from him this season, Headman revealed that defensive work and power are on the cards, alongside some humour off the pitch.

“I’m a powerful player. I’d say I’m a right-sided defender. Was playing at right-back for Harrogate and someone I can go forward, but my main priority is to defend the goal. Um but yeah, bit of a character.

“I can be bit of a wind-up and stuff, but then when I get on the pitch, I’m serious. I’m ready to battle, so yeah, someone that is definitely looking to add to the side both defensively and helping out going forward as much as I can.”
