Bromley suffered a 4-1 pre-season defeat against West Bromwich Albion in a friendly at Estadio da Nora, Albufeira, Portugal.
Victor Adeboyejo’s 20th-minute penalty cancelled out Jimmy-Jay Morgan’s opener before Aune Heggebo restored West Brom’s lead at half time with a flicked injury-time finish.
Jack Bray and Barney Stewart netted in the 68th and 80th minutes as West Brom condemned Bromley to defeat in their first pre-season friendly.
Despite their established EFL stature, West Brom could of easily been meeting Bromley in League One this season if not for their escape from the jaws of relegation at the end of last season, but they nearly made the early breakthrough as Morgan’s cross evaded Heggebo in the eighth minute.
West Brom’s early pressure soon paid off as Morgan curled a 16th-minute shot into the top-right corner to break the deadlock.
Bromley however won a penalty after a player was brought down inside the box during a set-piece after new loan signing, Ethon Archer saw a shot deflected behind the goal.
Fellow new arrival, Adeboyejo stepped up and dispatched the penalty into the bottom-left corner beyond Max O’Leary.
Adeboyejo’s equaliser subsequently sparked life into Bromley’s attacking play as Archer won a 32nd-minute corner, from which he fired over the bar from a headed touch of Mitch Pinnock’s corner delivery into his path.
West Brom however restored their lead in the second minute of first-half injury time as Heggebo flicked Isaac Price’s pass over Smith’s reach, which left the Baggies in front at half time as both teams made various changes.
Bromley were dealt a further blow just six minutes in after goalkeeper, Grant Smith was substituted off for Dillon Addai due to injury, and the Baggies immediately tested Addai with a shot onto the crossbar from Morgan.
Harry Whitwell then tested the Ravens’ defence with a shot on the hour mark which curled just wide.
West Brom’s second-half pressure eventually told in the 68th minute as Bray finished Souleyman Mandey’s pass beyond Addai.
Stewart then wrapped up West Brom’s victory with a 80th-minute finish of a pass delivered from the left, although Bromley almost netted a 88th-minute consolatory goal through Kamil Conteh whose curled shot was saved by Matt Ingram.
Bromley now turn their attention to their home match against Crystal Palace on Saturday 25 July at CopperJax Stadium, which is scheduled for a 3pm BST kick-off.
