Bromley’s loan signing, Ethon Archer has teased fans to expect “flashy” football from him this season.
Archer has joined on loan from Luton Town for the season, which marks his third loan spell away from Kenilworth Road since he joined the Hatters in September 2025, having initially been loaned straight back to League Two’s Cheltenham for the first half of last season.
He then spent the second half of last season in League One at Port Vale but couldn’t help the Valiants avoid relegation to the fourth tier.
Archer however is “buzzing” to now join Bromley for the whole season and in his first interview with the Ravens’ YouTube channel, he teased that fans can expect impressive moves and direct play from him – having previously scored one goal in three appearances against them when at Cheltenham.
“For those who have seen me, they’d probably describe me as skilful and I’d probably agree with that. Um sharp. I feel like I like to get the crowd off their seat when they’re watching me, so I might pull out something a bit flashy here and there, but very direct as well.”
The 23 year-old left winger added that he can’t wait to get going at the club with pre-season firmly underway and gel with his new teammates – including fellow new signing, Kamil Conteh who has joined from Bristol Rovers.
“It’s a very good feeling. I’m buzzing to be here and I can’t wait to get going, really.”
“It’s a very very good club, good facilities and well-run. I feel like I’m going to get on really well with the boys. I’ve seen a few of them and it’s a very good group. But, um yeah, I’m happy with what I’m seeing so far.”
“I’ve met a couple of the boys briefly. I know Conteh as well, he’s just signed. Um I feel like I’ll fit in quite easily to be fair.
Despite having suffered relegation with Port Vale last season amidst a FA Cup run to the Quarter-Finals where they were defeated 7-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Archer feels that the experience stands him well for this season.
“Yeah, most definitely. It was a very good experience. I’ve learned quite a lot about the level and I feel like that has aided me to go on kick on and do well this season.
“On top of that, obviously we played against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge away, and that was a very good experience for me, so yeah, my time at Port Vale was very good and I’m nothing but grateful for it.”
Hailing from Croydon, South London, Archer is pleased to be back in London and feels that being in his home city will benefit him in terms of performance.
“Yes, it’s like doorstep for me, so it’s very nice for me. I feel like I’m going to be very comfortable, calm, and I feel like that will get the best out of my game, really.”
Before Cheltenham gave him his break in the EFL, Archer spent four years at eight different Non League clubs but he felt that those experiences has made him the player that he is today in terms of personal development on and off the pitch.
“Yeah helped me to become a man really to be fair, I’ve moved away from home for about three years now and it hadn’t been close to home. I’ve moved quite far but they’ve all been very good experiences and it’s helped mould me to what I am today really.”
Archer though is now focused on the coming season and has just one simple target in his mind as to what he wants to get out of their maiden League One campaign,
“Help the club do as good as possible in the league.”
