London City Lionesses have signed Mary Earps on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Earps left PSG at the end of May after she wasn’t offered a new contract despite having kept 23 clean sheets in 57 appearances across all competitions.
The 33 year-old subsequently secured a return to English Football with London City Lionesses, having signed a two-year contract until June 2028 which will commence on 1 July once her contract at PSG has officially expired.
“I feel the club aligns with what I stand for. I can’t wait to get started and to get down to business,” explained Earps on why she decided to join London City Lionesses and be part of the project under owner, Michele Kang.
“The club’s values represent what I want to represent and they are passionate about what I want to achieve. All the conversations have been really positive and every time I spoke with the club I wanted to hear more.
“The vision and ambition, including the new training facility, is incredible and I’m looking forward to seeing that develop. It shows what our owner Michele and everyone at the club want to do in terms of really going for it.
“It’s about putting a marker down and saying we want to be competitive in a short space of time.”
Earps added that she can’t wait to integrate herself into the club and help them fight for success in the English game.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the players, the staff, the style of play and club culture and trying to give everything I can to help the club achieve its collective goals and be as successful as possible.
“I feel I still have so much left to give to the game, and that’s exactly why I chose London City.
“It won’t be easy, the WSL is extremely competitive. The team had a brilliant 2025/26 season finishing mid-table in their first season, now it’s about climbing the table and working towards finishing as high as possible.”
Earps began her career at Leicester City and went on to play for Nottingham Forest, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Birmingham City, Coventry City (on loan in 2011-12 season), Bristol City and Reading, before she spent 2018-19 season at Germany’s VfL Wolfsburg.
She then returned to England with Manchester United where she achieved 125 appearances in five years and helped them win the Women’s FA Cup in her final season at the club.
Earps also made 53 appearances for England between 2017 – 2025 during which she was part of their UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 title-winning squad on home soil, and also helped them to two Arnold Clark Cup titles plus one SheBelieves Cup and Women’s Finalissima title apiece.
Earps’ performances also saw her crowned as 2023 BBC Sports Personality of the Year after she claimed the Golden Glove in 2022-23 Women’s Super League season, and at the FIFA Women’s World Cup where the Lionesses finished runners-up to Spain.
