Roundup of a reduced matchweek in the Sky Bet Championship which saw drama affecting both ends of the table. 

First-half goals from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Haji Wright saw league leaders, Coventry win 2-0 at Bristol City despite both teams finishing a man down due to red cards for Joel Latibeaudiere and Adam Randell.

Second-placed Middlesbrough stayed four points ahead of the play-offs after David Strelec, Alan Browne, Hayden Hackney and Tommy Conway netted in a 4-0 victory at QPR, which marked the first time that they had recorded five consecutive victories over the Hoops in all competitions.

Third-placed Millwall kept their promotion bid on track after second-half goals from Mihailo Ivanovic and Josh Coburn sealed a 3-1 win at fifth-placed Hull, after Jake Cooper’s opening volley was cancelled out by Joe Gelhardt.

Sindre Walle Egeli’s 76th-minute finish rescued fourth-placed Ipswich a 1-1 draw at home to third-bottom Leicester, after Patson Daka put the Foxes into a 39th-minute lead at Portman Road.

Down in the relegation zone, rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday extended their winless streak to 30 matches with a 2-1 defeat at Derby, as Matt Clarke’s 45th-minute winner saw the Rams climb to seventh after Ben Brereton Diaz’s opener was cancelled out by Jerry Yates’ header.

Second-bottom Oxford United moved to within one point of safety after Will Lankshear and Ciaron Brown netted second-half goals in a 3-1 win at Preston, having initially led through Michal Helik before Milutin Osmajic brought the Lilywhites level.

West Brom found themselves one point above the drop after George Campbell rescued them a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United, after his 53rd-minute own-goal initially put the Blades in front.

Elsewhere, second-half goals from Zan Vipotnik and Liam Cullen saw Swansea clinch a 2-0 home win over ten-men Stoke, with the Potters having a man down from the 36th minute onwards after Sorba Thomas was red carded following two yellow-card incidents.

Charlie Kelman struck a 74th-minute winner as Charlton snatched a scrappy 1-0 victory at home to Birmingham at The Valley.

Hayden Carter’s 03rd-minute header saw Blackburn snatch a 1-1 draw at home to Portsmouth, after Connor Ogilvie had put the visitors ahead at Ewood Park.
