Charlton Athletic have signed winger, Millenic Alli from Luton Town for an undisclosed transfer fee.
Alli’s move to The Valley comes nearly 19 months at Luton where he scored five goals in 38 appearances across the first 12 months of his spell, before he moved to Portsmouth on loan in the second half of last season in a stint which saw him score once in 21 appearances.
His performances however impressed the Addicks who saw an undisclosed offer accepted for the 26-year-old who has signed a four-year contract in South London until June 2030, with Alli “happy” to join Charlton.
“I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to get started, have a good time and show what I can do.
“The club’s goals are the exact same as mine, so we’re really trying to push this season and do the best we can. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans at The Valley and get them cheering and on their feet.
“You can expect pace, power, directness and goals – skills too!”
Charlton manager, Nathan Jones added that he is “delighted” to welcome Alli as part of the club’s evolution with a feeling that he can offer extra quality out wide and offer more tactical variety alongside Tyreece Campbell, Karlan Grant and Rob Apter.
“He’s shown he can be a real potent threat at Championship level. We felt he was going to be a really good addition and we’ve worked hard to get that done.
“He provides options and competition for the players we’ve got and we think in that forward area we’ve got different one-v-one threats with TC, Karlan and Rob Apter and we feel we’ve just added in that department.
“We’re still looking for even more quality but this, we feel, is a positive step in being able to evolve and be more potent. He’s hungry, he’s ambitious, he wants to do really well at this level and kick-on, we were really impressed by how much he wanted to join Charlton.”
Born in Ireland, Alli began his career at Esker Celtic, St Francis then Bury at youth levels before he spent a spell at South Shields, followed by two loan stints at Workington in 2019-20 season during which he scored four goals in eight appearances during his second loan period.
He went on to play for Ashton United, Stockport County and Chorley before he enjoyed a breakthrough 18 months at Halifax Town, where he delivered 18 goals in 62 appearances which led to a move to Exeter in January 2024 in which he netted 16 goals in 43 appearances before Luton signed him in January 2025.
Alli represents Republic of Ireland at international level and having received his first call-up in March 2026, he made his debut in a 5-0 friendly win over Grenada two months later in May.
