Victor Adeboyejo believes that Bromley are on a “forward trajectory” after their shock 3-0 pre-season friendly victory over Crystal Palace.
Adeboyejo’s brace and Nicke Kabamba’s header saw Bromley stun Palace in a clinical second-half performance after they survived a dominant first half from the Eagles.
Adeboyejo post-match was pleased to see Bromley continue their strong home form which saw them go unbeaten in League Two last season on their own turf en-route to promotion and the title, as he noted that the team are adapting well to the hot temperatures in an interview with their YouTube channel.
“Yeah, it’s an amazing experience out here. I think I’ve been told that we don’t lose here, so it’s nice to keep that going. I think the boys really dug in, put their bodies on the line, and it was just a good effort from the team.”
“I think we’re getting used to the sun a bit more, but yeah, no, it took a lot of energy, took a lot of effort, and I think we did it together, so that was always important.”
The 28-year-old forward proceeded to praise the performance especially given the bonding and partnerships that are forming ahead of the season, amidst several new arrivals which meant that the result reflected their effort.
“Definitely, especially with a new group of new bodies coming into the building as well. It was very important to kind of get that gel, that togetherness. So, I think the result was obviously a show of all the work that we’ve been doing recently, so really proud of the boys.”
Adeboyejo has now scored three goals in two pre-season friendly appearances after he scored in a 4-1 loss against West Bromwich Albion in Albufeira, Portugal, with the forward happy to be on the scoresheet and is confident that they can create chances across the season.
“Uh yeah, really good. I mean it’s always nice scoring. It’s always nice putting the ball in the back of the net, and I think just getting in the right areas. I think with the way we play, with the way we work as a team, there’s going to be a lot of chances, and it’s just important to be in the right areas, so it’s nice to be there today.”
Head Coach, Andy Woodman has blended youth players with the senior team so far in pre-season which has left Adeboyejo impressed at the team spirit and unity.
“I think especially with a new group of players, it’s very important to just get that gel, get that togetherness, and I think the gaffer’s done well in doing that, the staff have done well in doing that, and I think there’s only a forward trajectory now.”
“Even the young boys that came in, they were excellent, a lot of them, so yeah, I mean we’re all pulling in the right direction, and I think long may it continue.”
Adeboyejo too acknowledged the crowd’s role as the 12th man with the noise as he added: “I think it is obviously a small group, but I think that the noise we create here is very important, and I think the noise that was created today was incredible, and it was a big push for the boys, so yeah.”
Bromley now host Millwall at the CopperJax Stadium on Tuesday 28 July at 7:45pm BST, and Adeboyejo is relishing another South London derby test.
“Yeah, Millwall. Yeah, it’s going to be a tough one again, but I think everyone rest, recover, and we’ll go again.”
