Crystal Palace have recalled goalkeeper, Owen Goodman from his loan at Huddersfield Town following agreement of both clubs.

Goodman joined the Terriers in July 2025 on a season-long loan and began their first six league matches of the season, until he was sent off in a 3-1 loss at Barnsley.

Manager, Lee Grant subsequently brought Lee Nicholls in during Goodman’s suspension but Nicholls managed to keep the 22-year-old out of the starting line-up, aside from their four league games in November which saw Goodman recalled to the starting 11 and failed to keep a clean sheet in those four matches.

Palace have since held discussions with Goodman and Huddersfield which led both clubs to terminate Goodman’s loan after 12 total appearances in all competitions, as the Eagles recalled him back to South London.

In a club statement on htafc.com, Grant explained that the decision to let Palace recall Goodman was down to not wanting him to spend his time in Yorkshire largely restricted to the substitutes bench despite his positive development.

“Owen is a talented young player who’s been a pleasure to work with and have within our group since the summer, but it’s become increasingly clear that ending his time here with us on loan is in the best interest of all concerned.

“Training well and developing within our programme in the face of some challenging moments, Owen was unlikely to feature as regularly as previously envisioned in the second half of the season. Having a loan goalkeeper spend the majority of their time here as a substitute wouldn’t have been helpful for any party involved, with Crystal Palace in agreement.

“Everyone at the Club thanks Owen for his efforts here alongside us, and wishes him well in his future career and development.”

Huddersfield currently sit fourth in League One.
