Fulham continue their resurgent form in a tricky Premier League clash against top-four-chasing Liverpool.
Victory could lift Fulham as high as seventh if results elsewhere go in their favour, although sixth could be achievable if Manchester United suffer a heavy defeat at Leeds in the lunchtime kick-off.
Team News
Kenny Tete and Joshua King are doubts for Fulham after the pair missed the Cottagers’ 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace due to respective hamstring and knee injuries.
Calvin Bassey, Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi (all international duty), Rodrigo Muniz and Ryan Sessegnon (both hamstring) remain absent.
Liverpool could welcome Joe Gomez back after he missed their recent matches due to a hamstring injury, including their goalless draw at home to Leeds.
Alex Isak (leg), Mohamed Salah (international duty), Wataru Endo (ankle) and Giovanni Leoni (ACL) remain absent.
When is Kick-Off?
Fulham host Liverpool at Craven Cottage on Sunday 4 January at 3pm GMT, live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Fulham have won one of their last five league meetings against Liverpool (W1, D1, L3).
- Liverpool have won one of their last four league trips to Fulham (W1, D2, L1).
- Muniz scored in both of Fulham’s meetings against Liverpool last season (W1, D1).
- Fulham have won three of their last five home games (W3, L2).
- Liverpool have kept a single clean sheet in their five league visits to London-based opposition this season (W2, L3).
Prediction
Unbeaten in their last four matches after they snatched a clinical point in a see-saw second half at Palace – having capitalised on the hosts’ loss of energy after the break, Fulham now need to continue playing as resiliently as they’re doing because they certainly tested the Eagles despite conceding a late first-half header.
Liverpool meanwhile were absolutely wasteful at home to Leeds but were lucky that Daniel Farke’s Whites were happy to settle for a point, so a more polished display is needed because they otherwise were dominant except in their final touches.
Craven Cottage though has been a tough place for Arne Slot’s Reds to visit in recent seasons and with Fulham having found form, I fancy this to be another tough clash which could end in a point apiece.
Prediction: Fulham 1-1 Liverpool
Result: Fulham 2-2 Liverpool
