Everton kick off the weekend’s Premier League action against Coventry at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Victory could lift Everton as high as fourth in the table, although they would need to win by five goals or more to actually go fourth.
Coventry meanwhile can go 11th with a win due to their much inferior goal difference compared to Aston Villa, Tottenham and Bournemouth in 10th, 9th and 8th positions respectively.
Team News
Jarrad Branthwaite is set to be available for Everton despite having suffered cramp in their 1-0 victory at Newcastle on Monday evening.
Jack Grealish remains absent due to a fitness issue.
Coventry could be without Bobby Thomas (calf) and Frank Onyeka (groin) after the pair missed their 3-1 home win over Sunderland.
Aurele Amenda (calf), Josh Eccles (ankle), Luke Woolfenden (knee) and Haji Wright (quad) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Everton host Coventry at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Friday 6 November at 8pm BST, live on Sky Sports Main Event and Premier League in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Everton have claimed seven points in their last five league meetings against Coventry (W2, D1, L2).
- Coventry are making their first visit to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, but have lost just one of their last six league trips to the Toffees (W2, D6, L1).
- Seven of Everton’s 13 points in their first nine league games this season have been earned at home (W2, D1, L1).
- Just three of Coventry’s nine points in their first nine league games this season have been won away from home (W1, L3).
Prediction
Having comfortably edged past Newcastle with a clinical well-disciplined performance to end their recent top-flight dip, Everton now need to build on that if they’re to put pressure on those around in the race for European qualification and once again be clinical.
Coventry meanwhile need to start finding a way to improve their away form if want to stay up because at home against Sunderland, they looked the more hungry and clinical before defending resiliently once 3-0 up in the second half to concede just once when could of easily imploded on another day.
Frank Lampard now need his players to bring that hunger and quality to Merseyside because with Everton playing twice in five days, fatigue could come into play the longer Coventry can frustrate them then take their chances but I can see the Toffees somehow grinding out a point if not the win.
Prediction: Everton 1-1 Coventry
