Everton meet Brentford in a huge mid-table Premier League clash at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Victory could lift Everton up to fifth if results elsewhere go in their favour, whilst Brentford can move above the Toffees and as high as sixth with a win if results elsewhere go in their favour.
Team News
Carlos Alcaraz and Michael Keane are doubts for Everton after they missed the Toffees’ 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest, having suffered undisclosed injuries.
Idrissa Gueye, Iliman Ndiaye (both international duty), Seamus Coleman, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jarrad Branthwaite (all hamstring) remain sidelined.
Brentford have no fresh injury concerns to report following their goalless draw at home to Tottenham.
Dango Ouattara, Frank Onyeka (both international duty), Fabio Carvalho, Josh Dasilva and Antoni Milambo (all ACL) remain sidelined.
When is Kick-Off?
Everton host Brentford at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday 4 January at 3pm GMT, live on Sky Sports Golf in the UK.
Stat Attack
- Everton are unbeaten in their last six meetings against Brentford (W3, D3).
- Brentford are visiting Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time, but have won one of their four previous away Premier League visits to Everton (W1, D1, L2).
- Everton have kept clean sheets in their last three home games against Brentford (W2, D1).
- David Moyes’ Toffees are looking to keep three consecutive clean sheets for the first time since December 2024.
- This is Brentford’s first league visit to a North-West team this season.
Prediction
Having finished 2025 on a high with a clinical display at Forest despite being outplayed, Everton can come into this game knowing that they can win this now that they’ve found a winning way to cope without Ndiaye and Gueye, but they will need to deal with Brentford’s robust press.
Brentford though were wasteful in a dominant second half against Tottenham after a pretty see-saw first half but their away form is inconsistent, yet this is a new calendar year and they’re unbeaten in their last four games; in which they took two wins and draws apiece.
My instinct though is that this feels like it could be too close to call so am going for a draw.
Prediction: Everton 1-1 Brentford
Result: Everton 2-4 Brentford
